Small target detection in sea clutter is a challengingproblem. This paper presents a novel and heuristic approachbased on the application of the Radon Transform to a set ofconsecutive range profiles. The performance of the detectiontechnique has been tested with real sea clutter data, acquired witha high resolution CWLFM (continuous wave linear frequencymodulated) millimetre-wave radar demonstrator. Results showthat performing the detection on the Radon domain makes thedetection of very small targets possible while keeping the falsealarm rate controlled.
