Resumen:

In this paper a parametric study of the dependenceof the rain characteristics in wind turbine clutter (WTC)mitigation for C-band weather radars is presented. For thisaim, several realistic simulations of weather conditions havebeen performed. These simulations are based in both the typeand the intensity of the precipitation, and so, they includereflectivity, velocity and spectral width parameters. Wind farminstallations relatively near to radar systems cause clutterreturns which can affect the normal operation of these radars. In particular, wind farms disturb the performance of C-bandweather radars in two main facts: First, they provoke theoverestimation of rain reflectivity due to the large radar crosssection that wind turbines have. Second, they cause themisleading of the wind velocity estimation because of the rapidrotation movement of blad
