Resumen:
This paper presents an experimental assessment of theconstant false alarm rate (CFAR) behavior of several coherent detectorsin the presence of high resolution sea clutter. The results clearly showa strong influence of the number of reference cells used to estimatethe covariance matrix in the displacement from the nominal probabilityof false alarm. A variation of up to one order of magnitude has beenobserved, and therefore the practical applicability of the detectors iscompromised.
