The DECT standard is considered as the main candidate for wireless local loop applications. Its capability for data transmission makes the design of DECT-based wireless local area networks interesting. These emerging applications, together with enhanced service in standard ones, address a number of direct requirements of what can be referred as Advanced DECT based station (ABS) or DECT+BS, like the one developed in the TWIST project. This performance include: increased traffic capability; A-priori antenna diversity; cost; smart antennas; extended bit rate; terminations; RF architectures for terminations; and RF architecture for ABS.
