Resumen:

The purpose of this paper is to present the design of an aperture coupled microstrip array on 8.75 GHz from the beginning. An implementation of an equivalent electric circuit is presented in order to improve the design method reducing the number of electromagnetic simulations. The S parameters of the equivalent electric circuit are compared with the electromagnetic simulations to validate the implementation. The next part of the paper consists in a parametric study made to know how any element of the design works, emphasizing in the bandwidth and the resonance frequency. In the last part of the document it?s explained a study of the radiation patterns, and the results of the electromagnetic simulations (FDTD and Method of Moments) are compared with the theory models. It?s illustrated how the mutual coupling affects to the radiation patterns of the electromagnetic simulation in contrast with the theory models.
