The Standard IEEE802.11e brought about theopportunity of supplying real time services with strictrequirements of quality of service in WLAN networks,originally intended to transport solely best-effort datatraffic.This paper evaluates the implications of using thesenetworks for supplying these kind of services, analyzing theconcept of user-perceived QoS in voice and conversationalvideo over IP services , and proposing a procedure to includethis concept in the planning process of an IEEE802.11WLAN oriented to guarantee quality in voice andconversational video over IP services.
